They thrive in the dark and cold and fear fire. Although they only feast on vaguely intelligent humanoid races, they grow stronger the weaker the mental state of their prey, often feasting on wary travellers lost in the icy trails of the northern mountains. They have been known to venture further south during cold snaps, and occasionally found hiding in the deepest depths of dungeons and caves. Although most only survive through a few winters, Dreads can effectively live forever if they can find sufficient prey to sustain them.
